Why are sunrise and sunset not as hot as midday?

The rays of the sun crosses through the air while coming on to the earth. In tine morning and in the evening the rays have to cross in much longer way. Moreover, they do not the perpendicularly at these times, which only results in the splitting of the rays to another direction. Therefore, sunrise and sunset are not too hot. On the contrary, rays come through comparatively shorter way and fall perpendicularly on the earth at the midday. Therefore, midday is comparatively hotter than the sunrise and the sunset.
