Ram Sita marriage story

Rama was born in the house of King Dasharatha and Sita was the daughter of King Janak. It is believed that Sita was born from the earth. At the time when Raja Janak was plowing, he had found a little girl whom he named Sita. Sita ji is also called by the name of “Janakandini”.

It is believed that once Sita lifted the bow of Shiva which no one but Parasurama could lift. King Janak decided that Sita would marry whoever could lift Shiva’s bow.

Announcements were made for Sita’s Swayamvara. Lord Rama and Lakshmana also participated in Swayamvara. Many other princes had also come there but no one could lift Shiva’s bow.

Raja Janak became desperate and said, “Is no one worthy of my daughter?” Then Maharshi Vashishta asked Lord Rama to offer the credentials of Shiva’s bow. Obeying the Guru’s command, Lord Rama started offering the credentials of Shiva’s bow and the bow broke.

Thus Sita got married to Ram. In Indian society, Rama and Sita are considered as an example of an ideal couple (husband and wife). Rama Sita’s life demonstrates love, ideals, dedication and values.

The significance of this day

This day is considered to be very auspicious for those who are facing some difficulties in their marriage. Such people should fast on the day of Vivah Panchami and worship Lord Sri Rama and Mother Sita according to the rules and regulations. This removes the obstacles in the way of marriage. At the same time the mind gets a life partner. Not only that, if married people observe this fast with full reverence, then all the problems that come in their marital life will gradually end. If Ramcharitamanas is recited in the house on the day of Vivah Panchami, then happiness and peace remain in the house.

Worship method

First of all, after bathing, remember Lord Shriram and Mother Sita and resolve to fast in your mind. Then sprinkle Ganga water on a post and spread red or yellow cloth and set up idols of Lord Rama and Mother Sita. Wear yellow clothes to Lord Rama and red clothes to mother Sita. Then worship them with roli, akshat, flower, incense and lamp etc. Offer prasad and read the story of Vivah Panchami. Then do 1, 5, 7 or 11 rosaries of the mantra ‘Om Janaki Vallabhay Namah’. Then do Aarti lovingly. After the pujan, pray for the removal of the crises in your life. Then feed the whole house with prasad.
