The electromagnetic wave that has wave length 10-7 m to 4*10-7 m is called ultra violent rays. Its sources are the sun, electric arc, tube light etc. It forms vitamin D under skin of human body and glows fluorescent lamp. The rays are also used in pest control and authentification of documents.

Uses of UV ray

  • It is use in sterilization of water (SODis), milk and diary products, medical tools etc.
  • It is used to ensure the purity of Gems.
  • UV-ray is used to prepare vitamin D by the animals in their skin.
  • UV is produced in fluorescent lamp to generate visible rays.
  • Different pest can be controlled using UV rays.
