About of Haribodhini Ekadashi 2021
Haribodhini Ekadashi is the largest and most important Ekadashi of the twenty-four Ekadashis of the year. Hence it is also called Big Ekadashi. In Hinduism, Ekadashi is considered as a festival to worship Lord Vishnu. It is mentioned in the Puranas that Lord Vishnu, who slept in the ocean of sagar on the day of Ashadh Shukla Ekadashi, wakes up today. This is why it is believed that this day is called Haribodhini Ekadashi. The Bhavishyottara Purana mentions that worship of Lord Vishnu performed today is more fruitful than other Ekadashis. Lord Krishna has told Yudhisthira that all the activities like bathing, alms, penance etc. performed on this day will be fruitful.
According to the belief that no good deeds should be done at this time due to the sleep of Vishnu Kshirsagar, marriage, fasting, house entry etc. are not performed for four months, i.e. according to astrological belief, there is no time to do these deeds. After the end of the four months, there is a moment for good deeds. The period from Kartik Shukla Ekadashi to Punirma is also called Bhishmapanchak.
Basil (Tulsi), planted four months ago on the day of Ashadhshukla Ekadashi (beginning of Chaturmas) in one’s home, is traditionally worshiped today and married to Pipal. The next day, on the day of Dwadashi, along with the special worship of Basil (Tulsi), Navanna (new grain) is burnt and Basil (Tulsi), worshiped as Vishnu or Vishnupriya for four months, is immersed.
On Haribodhani, the big Ekadashi festival, Hindus observe the brat by worshiping Lord Narayan. During this period, fairs are held at Barakhshetra, a famous pilgrimage site in Nepal. There is a religious belief that if one fasts in Haribodhani, the four Narayans are at a distance of about 18 kos and if one cannot worship at least one Narayan, all sins will be destroyed and salvation will be attained in the end.
The importance of Basil (Tulsi) marriage: –
On the day of Harivodhani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu Yoga comes out of sleep. Along with him, all the deities also give up yoga sleep. On that day Lord Vishnu is worshiped. Then Lord Shaligram and Basil (Tulsi) are married. From this day onwards, good deeds like marriage, shaving, fasting are also started.

How to marry Basil (Tulsi): -?
On the evening of Ekadashi, the pot of basil plant should be decorated with ocher etc. Then make a pavilion around the pot and cover it with a veil-shaped garment (chunari) worn by the bride. The pot should be wrapped in a sari and the basil should be stolen to make it beautiful.
After that, by worshiping Lord Ganesha and other deities and Shaligram, Basil (Tulsi) should be worshiped with the mantra ‘Tulasai Namah’.
Then a coconut should be placed in the form of Tika along with Dakshina and the throne of the idol of Lord Shaligram should be taken in hand and the mula of Basil (Tulsi) should be circumambulated seven times and the marriage ceremony should be completed after Aarti.
In Basil (Tulsi) marriage, everything is done in the same way as in Hindu marriage. Mars song is also sung at the time of marriage. There is a religious belief that by dedicating a letter of Basil (Tulsi) to Shri Hari Vishnu, Baikuntha Lok will be obtained.

Basil (Tulsi) is a versatile plant, it has a special place in the science of Ayurveda. According to doctors, basil has the potential to cure 89 diseases. The leaves, the branches, the flowers, the roots, the seeds are all equally important. It stimulates appetite, appetite and digestion as well as prevents diarrhea and vomiting. It is said in the scriptures that salvation is attained after death by placing a person on the death bed with the basil plant and feeding the basil leaves before dying. Basil purifies the environment around 400 meters planted with Basil (Tulsi).
